Friday 17th May and Leagrave Scout Group held its Annual General Meeting at Southfields Primary School.

The meeting started with a game show from the Young Leaders - 'Family Scouting Fortunes' and a lot of laughs rang out at some of the answers provided.

To commence the AGM properly the GSL John Rees announced the retirement for family reasons of our Chariman John Wilson. John we thank you for your service to the group and hope you will stay around and help out in the sections when you can.

John then announced that he had discussed with Syed Gilani to replace John as Group Chariman and he had agreed. So a big welcome to the Group Exec for Syed who acted as a parent representative prior to his appointment as Chairman. Congratulations.

Minutes of last meeting agreed and the usual agenda items were gone through before the presentations started. 

Gerald Law a recent recipient of the Bar to the Silver Acorn assited in presentaing the awards.

 

First came Beavers with the following winners:

Beaver of the Year:                 Joan Anderson

Most Improved Beaver:         Tyler Palmer

Fun & Friends:                        Vincent McClave

Improved Confidence:           Jayda Webb

Most Helpful Beaver:            Isabel Bideau

A medal for his acheivements in Beavers went to Bruce Jones.

Badger (Jacky) then asked all her leaders to come up and presented them with a small token of her thanks. 

 

Next came Cub Awards:

Cub of the Year:                     Callum Towler

Most Improved Cub:              Clayton Faraday & Joel Anderson

Best All Round Cub:              Maleah Francis

Best Behaved:                       Callum Stubbs & Jessica Bideau

David (a fill in for Cathy) then presented cub leaders with a small token of Cathy's thanks for their work during the year. 

 

Followed by Scout Awards:

Leaders Scout of the Year:   Georgia Bideau

Scouts Scout of the Year:     Fareed Gilani

Young Scout of the Year:      Arthur Gosk

Best Scout at Camp;             Faith Gazeley

Best Attitude to Scouting:    Sean Lynch

Gary then colled on all his leaders and thanked them for their assitance during the year with a small gift.

 

Next came Nigel for the Young Leader Awards:

Leaders Young Leader of the Year:                  Jordan Timms

Young Leaders Young Leader of the Year:      Daniel Denyer

 

John Rees then stood and presented his own award for work within the group to Alison Dewdney, out Group Secretary and a Cub Leader for her work during the year.

John then moved onto the Leader of the Year and due to a tie in votes the award for Leader of the Year went to 2 people; Nigel Timms and Gary Sturrock.

A large cake was then lit at stage side for Michael Waller for 30 years in scouting and Gary Sturrock for his 60th birthday.

Michael Waller was also applauded loudly by tlhe whole meeting for the award of his Silver Acorn. Congratulations Michael and very well deserved.

The AGM closed with the raffle where over 30 prizes were available and much needed funds raised for the group.     

Congratulations to all for a fantastic Year for the group and the youg people. Heres to another good one in 2019/20
