Leagrave Cub Scout Pack

#SkillsforLife

Falkes District Scouts, Bedfordshire

Cubs are young people aged between 8 and 10½, who make up the second section of the Scouting family, between Beavers and Scouts.

Activities

During their time in the Pack, Cubs will get a chance to try lots of different activities like swimming, music, exploring, computing and collecting.

There are a range of badges available which Cubs can wear on their uniforms to show everyone how well they're doing.

Cubs also get to go on trips and days out, to places like the zoo, theme parks or a farm. Sometimes they will be able to go camping with the rest of the Pack and take part in all kinds of outdoor activities.

Structure and organisation

A Pack of Cubs is organised into Sixes, with each Six named after a colour, and a Sixer and a Seconder in charge.

Back to Basic Camp
04/04/2022 By David Faraday

This weekend Leagrave Scout group headed off to Boyd Memorial Campsite and Activity Centre in Henlow. We had all of our sections camping. The scouts along with most of the young leaders arrived on Friday. We were in our brand new tents so after some instruction they got on well setting them up. Some time was then spent around the fire enjoying the warmth before the -3 temperatures overnight. Some of the scouts and young leaders didn't quite listen to us about how to stay warm overnight, but they certainly did on the Saturday night. As they realised, that we weren't just telling them things for the sake of it. Saturday had the scouts cooking breakfast. This was a full fry up with cereal option. The Beavers and Cubs then joined us on camp. We were supposed to be having the Beavers stay in the new bus on site, but it was not quite ready so they ended up staying in the hall instead. We will be taking the Beavers back another time to enjoy the bus. We then went on to do some fire lighting. This was aimed at the different sections for what they are able to do safely. Good fun was had by all. Everybody made their own backwards cooking lunch with a varying degree of success for the pocket pizzas. A small pioneering activity which consisted of making catapults then followed in the afternoon. Some of the scouts headed off to the kitchen and prepared dinner for nearly 50 people. As the temperature started to drop again we were all huddled round the campfire with arkala belting out some campfire songs. Everybody on the campsite knew our group name by the end of one particular song. After a reminder to the scouts about the cold weather and wrapping up again we all drifted off to bed. After camp was collapsed and cleared up we had three invested in to scouts, and 1 in to Young leaders. This camp was not supposed to be a freezer or winter camp, but it did end up being one. AJ and Amy from District both payed a visit to us over the weekend.
